Legal & governance

Clarity protects
trust in practice.

USG separates its open public framework, voluntary participation and professional services so that each relationship begins with a clear purpose, role and boundary.

Four clear boundaries

How USG works

The distinction matters. Public ideas can remain open while operational relationships receive the formality, safeguards and accountability they require.

01

An open framework

USG develops principles, pathways and shared language for trusted co-operation. It is not a regulator, court or public authority.

02

Voluntary participation

Endorsement, membership and contribution record participation. They do not, by themselves, amount to professional certification, accreditation or regulatory approval.

03

Separately agreed services

Professional services, training, case support, licences and partner appointments require their own scope, checks, terms and written confirmation.

Governance by separation

Open enough to invite.
Structured enough to trust.

Governance is designed around distinguishable layers rather than a single claim of authority. The framework can invite broad participation without obscuring who is responsible for a particular service or decision.

  1. 01

    Principles

The values and reference framework that guide USG's public work.

  2. 02

    Participation

A voluntary record of endorsement, contribution, membership or collaboration.

  3. 03

    Operations

Practical pathways delivered under defined roles, permissions and service terms.

  4. 04

    Accountability

Clear records, proportionate oversight and routes for questions or concerns.

Shared responsibility

Different roles. Clear expectations.

Use public material as general information and review the relevant notices before relying on it.

Participant or member

Provide accurate information, respect confidentiality and act consistently with the agreed participation terms.

Foundation Initiative

Public-benefit purpose. Defined responsibility.

The USG Foundation Initiative describes USG’s public-benefit activities and purpose. This description does not itself establish a separately registered foundation or charity, charitable status or eligibility for tax relief. The responsible entity and applicable arrangements must be identified for each activity.
